a free community for online business owners to casually hang out & craft

Are you missing community too?

Working online can be isolating. There are often no direct coworkers and any chats we do have with peers are usually paid and business-focused.

That’s why I would like to host a casual free community:

*² I do reserve the right to add more formalized community guidelines later. More on my values in the FAQ

Hi, I'm Birte![she/her]

… but you’re welcome to call me Birdy.

I am queer 🏳️‍🌈 & neurodivergent 🧠, and I embrace those things about myself (and the people in my community!). If you have a problem with any of that, then you’re not the right fit for this.

I usually do Tech Strategy & Implementation for online coaches and service providers who would like to keep their businesses simple, but still look like the professionals that they are.

I’ve been doing that – or iterations of it – for 7 years now and, really, as much as I am an introvert, the lack of casual hangouts and community is slowly getting to me.

I’d like to build an inclusive and supportive community, so…

why not come hang out?

FAQs

I believe in things like…

  • 🏳️‍🌈love is love,
  • 🏳️‍⚧️trans rights are human rights,
  • ⚧️ gender is not a binary,
  • ♀️ pro-choice & intersectional feminism,
  • ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 black lives matter,
  • 💉 vaccines save lives & science is real,
  • 🍃 climate change is real
  • 🕊️ stopping genocides across the world & no human is illegal

If you don’t, then chances are that you won’t fit this community.

If you are an online business owner of some sort (even aspiring) and you will honor the fact that I would like this to be a safe(r) space, then you are welcome to join.

I do reserve the right to add more formal community guidelines and remove anyone from being able to join if the need arises. For now, I’d like to appeal to everyone’s human decency and reiterate that I will not tolerate  discrimination of any kind!

The current plan is every first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm Berlin/CET time. Use World Time Buddy to convert the time.

You will receive information about when the next one is when you sign up to join.

It’s planned for 2 hours but if you need to leave early for any reason, you are welcome to do so.

Honestly, whatever floats your boat. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, drawing, coloring, lino cut, pottery, etc. – I really don’t care.

I do think it might be helpful if your craft doesn’t involve any extremely loud tools, so you don’t have to mute yourself to do it, but, honestly, that’s down to you.

I also think you should ask for consent if you would like to show any crafts on camera that are NSFW.

I don’t really care if you do, but I would like to make it a safe enough space for you to feel comfortable to be on camera.

You will receive

  • an email to confirm your email address
  • a welcome email that sends you all the details
  • reminder emails for the events

Signing up to my newsletter emails is optional.

You can unsubscribe from all of these emails at any time.

At least not on purpose. This is really just a fun project for me. If you’d like to, you are welcome to join my newsletter though.

I mean, on the calls I might talk about what’s going on in my business or big wins here and there. But this certainly isn’t a sales event.
